When considering the music for your wedding, you could hire an outfit similar to that featured in the hit movie “The Wedding Singer” for less than half our price. Happily, we are not that outfit.

Strings Attached attracts the type of client who prefers the dynamic, experienced sounds of an ensemble of the highest creative caliber.

Ask yourself: what do you want your wedding to feel like musically? Strings Attached delivers. We can play to a range of styles. Here are some examples:

  • Miles Davis classic harmony muted trumpet fills the sanctuary with shimmering strings
  • REM, James Brown, and Sting are channeled into the room so that not a single pair of legs stays still
  • Strings and brass resonate throughout the room as you dance the night (or day!) away
  • Or, let us know your dream and we can make it happen!

Strings Attached has been around the block musically. Not only have we done our share of weddings, parties, and special events, but we have performed at multiple concerts and venues all over Austin and Central Texas; our musicians have performed on the world stage with artists like Shawn Colvin, Leonard Cohen, and Turtle Island String Quartet.

Sharing a vibrant passion and love of performing music in a way that is unbounded by style, the musicians of Strings Attached have extensive experience and training in jazz, classical, rock, and beyond. As Duke Ellington once said, "There are only two kinds of music: good and bad." Strings Attached has been entertaining Austin audiences since 1999 with its wildly successful concert series in downtown Austin. For the past 9 years, their shows have been regularly broadcast live on KLBJ and KGSR and they've shared the stages with Grammy award winner Shawn Colvin, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Joe Ely, Eliza Gilkyson, Patrice Pike to name just a few. Along the way they produced tribute shows featuring the music of Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel and several huge Beatles tribute shows before audiences in the thousands.

Check out some of the unique requests from clients that we have happily accommodated:

  • We'd like to create the set list for the band. The first song on this list is the one I was hoping to do for the father daughter dance. It's one of those "special meaning" songs. My fiance picked it out for me on Valentine's Day about 6 years ago. I had never heard it, but he got the CD, went by my house, left it on my front porch with flowers and a card, and said "play track #4..." That was the first time I had heard that song. I'm really hoping that will be something you guys can pull off.
  • Can you guys play a song with my cousin singing?
  • We'd like Bartok for the prelude music, a Beatles song for the recessional and Mussorgsky for the processional
  • I have no clue what selections to use during the ceremony. Can you help me choose the selections?
  • Our church has specific restrictions on what songs can be played at the ceremony.
  • We'd like our older guests to enjoy music they're familiar with, but rock out at the end of the reception with some popular music of our day. Can you do that?
  • Can Will Taylor MC the wedding and make the special announcements during the reception? Announce the couple, etc.?
  • Can we use the wireless microphone for toasts?
  • Can we play music from our iPod through your system during the breaks?

Testimonial from our Zeppelin Show

"WOW! I don't know what else to say!!! Your Led Zep show at 7:30 Friday night was one of the very best concerts I've enjoyed in my life, and I've been to some of the very best! I've even seen Led Zeppelin live, and later Paige and Plant on their duo tour, and Plant on his solo tour, but your show blew me away! I was a DJ in the late 60's and early 70's and had comp tickets to all the major concerts of that era - usually on the 1st to 3rd rows. You've totally outdone yourselves (and the originals) with this show!

I just can't say enough about your extremely talented musicians - from yourself, Will, to your incredible guitarist, Glenn, who totally blows me away with his versatility and talent - he's got to be one of the best guitarists I've ever enjoyed listening to and watching - to your bassist/arranger Steve who is so incredibly talented and charismatic, and your drummers and percussionists who really "feel" and recreate the beat and sound of Led Zeppelin, not to mention your fellow string players who are exceptional musicians.

1. What kind of music do you play?

Depending on the ensemble you choose, we can perform almost any style, including: classical, jazz, pop, funk, Motown, swing, Latin, tango, Brazilian and others.

2. Should I have a quintet, quartet, trio or duo?

For an intimate ceremony in a small chapel we recommend a duo or trio. At an outdoor wedding the sound of a duo might not carry as well as a quartet or quintet.

3. Can your group play the Wedding March and Canon by Pachelbel?

Yes, most of the wedding repertoire is possible to perform with any instrumental combination.

Founding member composer, arranger, producer, multi-Instrumentalist, and father of two, Will Taylor grew in Austin during the 70's and 80's.

Will Taylor's story begins, like so many Austin music stories, at the Armadillo World Headquarters -- the late great concert hall, beer garden and artists' haven that both nurtured and reflected the open-minded spirit of its patrons. Taylor was raised in Austin, and his parents loved music. So it only followed that young Will spent many nights at the Armadillo, listening to music, in the company of his parents.

The Armadillo was all about inclusiveness, for it was the home of rock and country, ballet and jazz, folk, blues and the spoken word. There were no boundaries. Form didn't matter as much as passion. As a boy, Taylor wandered about in this landscape without thinking about it.

As he came of age in the late 1980s, Taylor gravitated toward jazz and classical music -- a world void of lyrics -- even though his parents had always been aficionados of singer-songwriters such as Townes Van Zandt. He mastered the viola, toured with the Turtle Island String Quartet and eventually put together a string jazz ensemble in Austin. His compositions were adventurous, creative . . . and well outside the lines of the mainstream.
